On-line Book Chats ...

I just rec'd an interesting email about a new way to hold a book discussion group:
Online (live) Book Chats!
The book to be discussed on February 21st is SANDPIPER by Ellen Wittlinger.
(Yes, we have this book in Upton, and can request more copies!)
Read on for all the details.....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Gill and C.J. Bott of ALAN (the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents) are starting an online young adult book group on the ALAN website.

Here is the plan. Each month on the third Wednesday at 9:00PM/EST (to accommodate all the time zones), they will have a discussion on a previously selected YA book. People would sign on to the ALAN website (
www.alan-ya.org/) and then follow the path to the Book Chat. And then on the following Wednesday night, the fourth of the month, there will most likely be an interview with the author of the "chatted" book.

The book up for discussion on February 21 at 9:00 PM/EST is SANDPIPER (2005) by Ellen Wittlinger. Ellen has agreed to be interviewed on the following Wednesday, February 28 at the same time.

We hope you can join us, and feel free to spread the word.

By the way, David Klass's FIRESTORM has been arranged for March!

There's going to be a great line-up of YA books and authors! The more people who can join in the discussion, the better.

If anyone has any questions, you can direct them to C. J. Bott at
Bottcj@aol.com.

January's TeenTuesday

Happy New Year, Everyone!
Quick reminder that this month's TeenTuesday will be held on the 16th, and that our discussion of the book Flipped got postponed from last month, so that will be happening this time. There are still a couple of copies on reserve at the Library, so please pick one up at the circulation desk if you'd like to read it before the 16th! We also need to work on the ULTRA bulletin board display, (you can kinda see the bulletin board in the background of this picture) so bring your ideas along w/any pictures (photos or original artwork) and book reviews, etc. to put on there. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to the display so far! Thanks, also, to those of you who keep the graphic novels slatwall organized! Great job!

Be sure to check out the pictures of the ULTRA Gingerbread House!!
Hope to see you all soon!
